McCutchanville Elementary is a new ultramodern school serving students in Preschool through 6th grade. Featuring 21st-Century learning spaces, the school encourages a new way of student-focused learning. The heart of the school features a two-story learning commons encouraging interaction of students amongst all grade levels. Surrounding the learning commons are the grade-level “neighborhoods”. Each “neighborhood” contains classrooms and a unique collaboration area filled with fun and colorful furniture. These spaces are flexible to fit the needs of different teaching strategies. In addition, hands-on makerspace learning and technology are reinforced throughout all spaces in the school.
A teaching theater located nearby allows classrooms to congregate for a group experience. An outdoor classroom with seating walls provides a place to relocate on a pleasant day. The Science classroom contains an adjoining roof top garden area for additional science experiments. Walking trails to the adjacent community athletic fields allow for easy access to afterschool sports and community leagues. Designed to be a net zero school, the facility contains numerous energy saving features.
The new school provides an environment and culture that motivates students to greater achievement. Both teachers and students enjoy the variety of experiences to teach and learn.
