Designed to look less like a residence hall so it felt inviting to students that did not live there and encouraged them to stay on campus.

The multi-level, terraced courtyard opens to the dining hall to promote student circulation from other residence halls and campus areas.

Sunlight permeates through custom window films created from the old main building's stained-glass windows, creating patterns that move across the floor throughout the day.

"Living room" spaces have abundant daylight and a courtyard view. Students can create their own poetry using the word leaves on the tree sculpture at the ceiling.

The community learning center is open to the entire campus.

The community learning center opens to the courtyard and provides a variety of spaces and flexible seating to accommodate a range of activities.

Transforming benches in the common areas into niche seating with padded walls increases seating comfort and overall use.

Wooden platform at the building front includes sufficient A/V technology support to accommodate live music and presentations. A similar space exists on the building's courtyard side.

The terraced courtyard respects the campus legacy, echoing the original main building's basement, where a traditional welcome event is hosted each year for incoming students.
