In the winter of 2014, Perkins+Will developed an updated campus master plan including new athletic, academic, and shared use facilities which is designed to provide the framework for their expanded campus vision. Initial implementation of the plan includes a new Upper School Building and a new
Commons Building.
The Upper School is three levels, designed to accommodate 450 students and associated administration, faculty, and support staff. Each floor of the classroom wing includes a large flexible space that provides for either a STEM, project, or media lab, fostering innovative learning environments at all levels.
The proposed Commons building is two levels with a 450 seat cafeteria and kitchen on the lowest level and a performing arts space designed to seat 450 patrons, stage, lobby and support rooms on the uppermost level.
Architecturally, the new buildings are meant to depart from the relatively muted structures of the existing campus and promote a more thoughtful use of the building materials found on the site. These new buildings take their cues from more traditional educational and institutional campuses.
By carefully siting and consolidating the building footprints, not only have a wide variety of outdoor spaces been created for passive and active use, but also they also promoted better campus connectivity.
