The Stockton University Academic Building is the latest addition to the university’s masterplan. The new construction building is situated on a prominent parcel located at a major gateway to Atlantic City, steps away from the beach and boardwalk, helping to redefine the urban landscape. This three-story, 56,000 square-foot structure was designed to meet LEED Silver standards, and is programmed with a generous lobby space, a multi-function event room, as well as indoor and outdoor dining areas on the first floor. The first floor spaces are open to the public and help to strengthen the university’s commitment to community involvement. The upper levels contain classrooms and administrative space, as well as student lounges, which celebrate the learning experience, and encourage student and faculty interaction. The exterior material palette creates a new campus identity for the university through the use of durable limestone at the base and terra cotta panels above, while the interior palette brings a beautiful balance of natural materials and colors with bold use of color. The abundant use of glass on the building allows for natural daylighting to fill the interior spaces and offers expansive views of the ocean and bay from most classrooms, conference rooms and offices.
