Located in Chicago, Rush University offers more than 40 degree and certificate programs across medicine, nursing, allied health and biomedical research; more than 60 postgraduate training programs for medical residents and fellows; and continuing education options.
Rush University launched a $6.5 million renovation project to create 10,000 sq ft of new collaborative and dynamic active learning spaces. The design of these brought in the input of key faculty, staff, and students as well as national experts.
Features of the spaces include a bold ceiling design, a geometric floor design to foster innovative thinking as well as provide a grid in which students can create smaller learning spaces using the mobile furniture and whiteboards. Multimedia carts are available in the space and there is a power and data grid in the floor and along the walls so that between the carts and the furniture there is a kit of parts for students to create the type and size of learning environment that they need on demand. Additional features include speakers, microphones, and camera system for distance learning as well as a control tablet which enables faculty to control lighting, material displayed on the projectors and media cart, and leverage instructional technology.
