The PVA “drums” can be viewed from the courtyard, providing an exterior space that experientially feels the same as the interior space.

Extensive visual and physical connections to an exterior space support overall student well-being by allowing them to interact with nature.

The multi-configurable theater-in-the-round influenced both interior and exterior spaces and became a landmark that drove the building organization.

Throughout the building are collaboration spaces with flexible furniture, abundant natural light, and views to the courtyard.

The courtyard blurs the lines between interior and exterior – place a roof over the outdoor space and it will feel very similar to this interior.

Breakout spaces are placed along the circulation with flexible furniture, bright colors, and transparency into the classrooms, and the walls serve as gallery spaces.

The large learning stair can accommodate large group instruction, includes outlets for added flexibility, and can also support performance audiences.

Common areas include nooks for independent study that have a fun and playful design reflecting the unique activities of the school.

Traditional learning spaces become extraordinary in the pursuit to support PVA. In lieu of a traditional gym, the school provides a dance studio.

The biophilic design approach makes use of colors and patterns to evoke a sense of connection to nature from the interior environment.

The design responds to the scale of its users through a playful, intimate, and engaging environment that celebrates the unique activities happening within its walls.

Blackbox theater can accommodate large group instruction and serves as an extension of the library and dining spaces.
