The IDEA (Integrated Design, Engineering and Arts) building at Nolan Catholic High School provides collaborative intersections for robotics, art, digital media and broadcast production programs, while acting as a community hub for the campus and diocese. The project goals were to provide a state-of-the-art creative environment to foster student success beyond graduation, attract new families and quality instructors to increase growth, and elevate the human spirit by creating an environment of truth, beauty and goodness.
The wood roof deck slopes up to north views and provides a deep overhang for a large façade of expansive glazing, bringing natural light deep into the instructional spaces. The robotics arena includes tiered seating and multi-media infrastructure that allows for use as a dance and theatre venue and facilitates visiting lecturers and community meetings. The roof terrace and patios are open on Friday nights to football spectators while fans below can view innovation on display in the maker spaces and studios.
