Our firm was selected to provide architectural services for the renovation of the athletic facilities at John Glenn High School. The track and fields were ill-equipped and ill-suited to serve the school’s needs. The football field was only used for practice games, while varsity games were held at another high school nearby. A lack of lighting also limited practice during fall and winter. The renovated facilities feature a new football field, baseball, softball, and three practice fields with 2,500-seat-capacity bleachers to accommodate large events. Students will also enjoy a new track with nine lanes and ample lighting. Completing the new facilities is a new concession building with restrooms, team rooms, and storage rooms. The centrally located concession building has a long linear design that divides the football, track, and soccer events from the baseball and softball events, allowing all sports to use this facility efficiently. To provide a modern aesthetic and incorporate the school's color scheme, a bright white CMU was selected to contrast with the red plaster angular walls. The facility enhances opportunities for after-school athletic and extracurricular activities while also serving as a community hub by providing a space where students and the community can come together.
