PROJECT NARRARTIVE
With continued growth in the District, Rogers High School found that the existing gymnasium lacked space for their programs of basketball, volleyball, cheer, dance, and wrestling. The basketball court was not standard regulation size, and seating capacity and quality did not compare to surrounding schools. In addition, the existing gymnasium was located in the middle of the school and not visible to visitors.
Hight Jackson Associates worked with the Athletic Director, coaching staff, Facilities Director, and district administration to determine current and future needs, so that the gymnasium would accommodate future growth and have all amenities required to host tournaments.
The design of the new gymnasium addition to the campus features a main entry lobby with dedicated elevator for primary point of entry for the public, seating capacity of 2,305, corner style arena seating, retractable seating on visitor's side, and cross court practice courts with folding backstops. Offices and training area are included in the design. There is a dedicated wrestling room with two courts, weight lifting facility specific to basketball, varsity locker rooms for basketball and volleyball, concessions, the RHS Store, and commercial washer & dryer in the laundry room. A climbing wall room is a favorite feature for many students.
