PROJECT NARRARTIVE
Springfield School District and its campus is located in the heart of Springfield, on the eastern plains of Colorado. The District sought out the partnership of TreanorHL to facilitate the design of a new facility that would implement their goal of providing a cohesive, inspirational and modern facility for its students. The combination addition/renovation resulted in a 91,920 square foot consolidated PK-12 school facility.
The existing one-story middle and high school spaces were re-imagined into an elementary school with a centralized team center that caters to these younger students. It will be connected to the new two-story middle/high school via a commons link, bridging the existing and new gymnasiums and shared cafeteria and community space. Programs include a modern vocational agriculture shop, maker space for elementary school hands-on exploration, daylight filled core learning spaces, and rich technology infrastructure. Walkways house collaborative spaces, reading nooks, and prideful display of student achievement and school heritage. The exterior showcases an outdoor learning courtyard, and separate parent, bus and student traffic patterns provide site clarity and security.
The project is on track to be CHPS via careful orientation of learning spaces, enhanced envelope and MEP systems, and thoughtful commitment to building and community stewardship.
