Situated behind an existing elementary building, the new Early Childhood Center will receive and now entry drive centered on the building in the next phase of construction. At that time, the existing elementary to the east will be demolished..

First Floor Plan: West half of the building is a single-story comprised of community shared spaces. East half of the building is 2-story comprised of 6 learning communities.

The main facade of the Early Childhood utilizes brick colors from other district school buildings. Color accents on windows and wall panels celebrate the young learners and is indicative of the interior design strategies.

Safety and Security is addressed with layered access control, direct lines of sight, and buffered zones between vehicular and pedestrian traffic; All this while maintaining an warm and welcoming entry.

Learning Community colors are expressed on the exterior, making wayfinding for young children intuitive both inside and outside.

A universally accessible play area is located directed off the cafeteria providing varied surfaces including poured-in-place playground areas, natural mulch, grass and landscaped areas, gardens adjacent the kitchen, and paved areas for multi-sensory and diversified experiences.

Outdoor learning spaces are accessed directly from each individual learning commons within the learning communities.

Main entrance: Children and visitors are greeted with school colors, natural materials, monitors that celebrate activities of the day, as well as windows that offer child-level peaks into the innovative makerspace adjacent the main entrance.

Makerspace: A space for making and creating with it's own creativity patio directly outside introduces hands-on, risk-taking learning experiences

Gymnasium: More than just a gym for the community, this serves as a multi-purpose space for school and community space. Enhanced acoustics and ample daylight support all the different functions. This space is also able to be locked off and secured for individual community use after hours.

Cafeteria & Serving Area: All of the learning community colors are celebrated in this "heart of the school". Floor to ceiling windows armed with motorized shades control the daylight that can flood into the space.

Cafeteria & Performance Space: A stage opens directly into the cafeteria to be able to host school and community events.

Learning Community Learning Commons: Every Learning Community has a shared generous flex space that winds through the entire community. Stairs linking to the learning community above frame a space for a learning platform, slide and other nooks and crannies. Furniture throughout is varied, providing choice and encouraging student agency.

STEAM Learning Commons: Located at the intersection of all 6 learning communities is a 2-story STEAM Learning Commons. A wet and messy area on the first floor is supported by a balcony area above with additional work areas as well as a glass-enclosed small group room that looks down from above.
