Inspired by the Stanford d.school Design Thinking Process, the Learning and Innovation Hub provides a unique environment for creativity and information sharing to build new knowledge and create pathways for the future. To meet Professional Development goals and facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration, the Hub staff partners with educators to provide project-based learning opportunities and research lessons. The Hub also provides various programs where students can explore, innovate, and reflect. Community members and other guest speakers are brought in to expose students to potential college and career choices.
At any given time, students are huddled in groups showcasing peer-to-peer learning in the open, cool, casual spaces.
Brainstorming areas combine with digital connectivity and laboratory maker spaces for real-time investigation or collaboration and provide a modern, flexible space. Each of the spaces was designed to provide visibility into the activities taking place within and provide ample space to display student work.
The spaces allow students to collaboratively investigate problems or questions, work together, and share findings in a multitude of unique approaches that all support the attributes of 21st century learners.
Students use the spaces throughout the day, with the freedom and independence needed to tap into their largest resource - one another.
