The San Antonio College (SAC) Fletcher Administration Center (Fletcher) renovation rejuvenated the heart of the campus. SAC reimagined and revolutionized the way administrative student services were delivered by envisioning a space that puts the students first with staff members serving as expert guides.
Because SAC’s student population is primarily non-traditional students that tend to be older and transitioning from various stages of life, they vary widely in their age, goals, and comfort with technology. The goal was to deliver a modern, tech-enabled building that is welcoming, accessible, and easy for all students to navigate on their terms. The variety in seating and table heights and the deliberate creation of both group and individual areas allow everyone to find an option that is comfortable.
All three floors minimize the sense of hierarchy with exposed finishes and more casual desks and counters to eliminate barriers. Saturated colors, intermingled patterns and texture, intentional lighting and technology integration are all designed to build on the themes of diversity and belonging.
Every detail speaks to the college’s commitment to serving their diverse student population with a myriad of opportunities for study, testing, advising, collaboration, and readily accessible administrative offices.
