The Lift (Learning & Innovation in Future Technologies) is the home base for Abilene ISD’s ATEMS high school while also serving students district-wide for career and technology courses. The vision for the campus is one of versatility and integration. It is organized into three zones that unite similar programs. Within each zone, flex classrooms and collaborative space reinforce the vision and provide a modern environment conducive of 21st century methodologies.
The first zone consists of shop / industrial programs. The second zone is the hub of the campus and aligns core spaces with programs including culinary and hospitality. A maker space and lecture hall are located within the core. The maker space serves as a fabrication lab to strengthen technical skills and creativity for students and faculty. The third zone contains academic and technological functions for STEM, digital media and information technology programs. Teacher planning labs and collaboration space are interspersed. Engineering labs and a robotics lab connect to a shared space to test prototypes and host small competitions.
The aesthetic matches the forward facing intent of the campus and takes a modern approach. Environmental graphics play a large role in creating a sense of place and pride for students.
