The addition’s windows and the use of brick and cast stone architectural elements, reflect the proportions, scale, and detail of the original high school.

The auditorium features reclaimed wood angled acoustical boxes and inset linear LED lighting, in-house sound and lighting control, and an orchestra pit with removable cover.

Practice Rooms put learning on display. Clear views from the Lobby and Mezzanine Student Commons create a layer of security.

Large windows in the Rehearsal Room provide an abundance of natural light. The ceiling and walls feature shaped acoustic baffles to diffuse and absorb sound.

The 450-seat auditorium provides an intimate and acoustically superior performance experience for both performers and spectators.

The lobby ceiling’s wave-shaped acoustical baffles hint at the school’s nautical namesake. Technology enhances the lobby with live-feed auditorium performances and backlit acrylic panels.

Continuing the lobby’s nautical theme are the compass design inset in the carpeting. Reclaimed wood walls recall the hull of a ship.

The Mezzanine Student Commons links the addition to the existing school, while serving as an additional collaboration space.

Porcelain wood-look tiles were selected to mimic the reclaimed wood used throughout the auditorium and to withstand the climate changes of the main entrance vestibule.

The history wall was designed on floor to ceiling high-impact material and honors the school’s past events, staff and students.

BEFORE: Due to cost and site constraints, remodeling the 1920’s building and bringing the auditorium up to 21st century educational standards wasn’t an option.

A bridge connects both buildings at the second-floor level, allowing for bus access below. It provides a secure, indoor route for students throughout the building.
